Class Description: "Tartan Trim Raglan Sleeve Jacket and Dress".
The focus of this three day class will be precise machine construction and fine finishing details. The raglan sleeve 100% cotton twill jacket is fully interlined with ‘baby' interfacing for wrinkle resistance and stability. Students will work a practice sample and then move onto the jacket front to perfect a simplified method for making bound buttonholes using the coordinating tartan plaid. Two fully functional angle cut double welt pockets on the front of the jacket mirror the appearance of the bound buttonholes, giving the project a tailored, professionally constructed look. The jacket is fully lined with the coordinating tartan plaid which allows a bias cut fold back cuff on the sleeve for additional growth room. Perfect beginning and ending mini piping on straight lines, curved edges, and ‘in the round'. The construction method used for finishing the jacket eliminates almost all hand work. The coordinating dress features piped, bias cut tartan overlays on the bodice front and sleeves. The box pleated skirt front provides fullness while complimenting the tailored look of the jacket. A piped edge, half back belt, complete with bound buttonholes adds interest to the back of the dress. Three sizes of buttons compliment the neckline of the dress, the full ‘button down the back' closure on the dress, and the front of the jacket. The pattern in sizes 4, 6, 8, and 10 will be provided with the project kit.
